Love or Lust?

Sex is the #1 Google word on the Internet. The two things people want in church is sex and money.

The difference between love and lust:

1. Lust takes and love gives. Lust is selfish, love is selflessness.

2. Lust is hurtful, love is helpful.

3. Lust wants to be satisfied while love wants to satisfy.

Sex is a natural desire from God. You don't have to fast or pray when you get the urge. Sex is ordained from marriage.

Exodus 20:17

17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Love says we are on our way to marriage. Lust says let's just get into bed and have sex.

Matt 5:27

27 “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

When you think you repent. You act on it you are going to have serious problems. Killing or thinking of killing are two different things.

Matt 7:21

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Lust begins in your heart. Men: It starts with your eyes. Women: It starts with your ears. Your gates are your eyes/ears. You have to guard your gates. Watch your eyes/ears. Single ladies: watch the music you listen to.  Listen to Gospel music. Same thing with movies. Be careful of what you watch.

Job 31:1

1 “I have made a covenant with my eyes;
Why then should I look upon a young woman?

You can't think about what you are not looking at.

1 Peter 4:3

3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

If you know you are struggling with lust watch your triggers. 5 things to kill lust:

1. Check your spiritual pulse at all times.

2. Guard your marriage sex life.

3. Watch tempting relationships

4. Rehearse the consequences

5. Guard your eyes

James 1:13-15

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

1  Peter 4:1

1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
