Do You Want It?

This was preached by Pastor Stephen Brown during our monthly Sunday Night at the Light service.

John 5: 1 -9

1After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

The man had a dilemma, desperation, and deliverance. A lot of us have a dilemma and we need a miracle to hit our lives.

3In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

You can't hang around people who are worse off than you. If people are always speaking negativity then you need to change your circle.

6When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

Jesus asked only one question but the man gave a response that did not have to do with his question. You can come out of your mess if you want to. The man made excuses. He was crippled in his mind.  Some of us are crippled in our mind, faith, and spirit. Whatever is in you will come out (Prov 4:23). Greater is He that is in you that is in the world (1 John 4:4). If you believe that God is greater than your problems you would praise Him when trouble comes. Don't let people talk you out of your miracle. Stop looking for your miracle to happen the same way it has happened for someone else. God has a new and better way for you.

8Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

When Jesus speaks just get up. All you need is a Word and once you step out on the Word keep your eyes on the Word. Peter sank when he took his eyes off of Jesus (Matt 14:22 -31). Whoever calls on Jesus shall be delivered (Romans 10:13).
