Scars

The message was brought by Elder Sidney Brown

Galatians 6:17

 17From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

Paul wanted to be left alone and to not be troubled by man. He had scars from serving Jesus.

A scar is a break in the skin. It leaves a mark. The mark can be ugly. Sometimes the mark are so ugly we don't want people to see them. Scars can also be mental and emotional. There are some scars we wish we can forget about and every time we look at the scars it reminds us of the past. There are some scars we don't want to think about such as a bad car accident, abuse, ect.

Some scars can be used as a testimony to let others know that God was with you. They have a story. We may have small, large, ugly scars but it always reminds us of the past. We will have a lot of heartaches and wounds in this Christian walk. Don't turn your back on God.

Paul says that he bears the mark of Jesus Christ. He was shipwrecked, and he fell on his shoulders. He went to the best schools. It was said that his father pushed his education sine he injured his shoulder and would not be able to do anything physical. He was beaten, stoned, and left for dead because he stood up for Christ. When you stand up for Christ you will be wounded.

2 Cor 4:8
8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Through pain there is sorrow. Hold onto the horn of the altar. If everything is smooth you can't tell people that God will deliver them.

Heb 5:8
 8Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

You can't learn unless you go through some things. You will go through some things. Stop crying and pray for your enemies. Jesus knows about our pain & scars because he went through some things. Job was righteous and went through some things. Job held on.

Job 13:15
15Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

Hold onto God's unchanging hands. Jesus learned obedience through what he saw. Jesus came down to save us though he was the son of God.

Psalm 34:19
19Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 119:71
  71It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
