Hurricane Irene

Mark 4:35-41

35 On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” 36 Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. 38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. 40 But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

You may be in your own hurricane but you are coming out. A hurricane consists of high waves and terrible rains. It is a combination of water, air and heat. Water represents the word,  air represents the Holy Ghost and heat represents the power of the Holy Ghost. When all combined the devil sends a hurricane to your life. This all comes when you are going to church and reading your Word. When the devil comes you know God is on your side.

When you see the three mixed together the devil gets mad. The closer you get to God the closer the devil gets to you. When there is a hurricane there is a large cloud that spins counter clock wise accompanied by little clouds that are moving powerful as well. It's not just the devil but his army to make you think you are losing your mind. It seems like you come out of one test to another test. That should let you know God is on your side. The devil can't fight you one on one. Think about when a bully is by himself. He doesn't do anything when he or she sees you but when he or she is with his friends that bully does all the talking and has the courage to fight you.

Remember:

1 John 4:4

4
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

The ocean has a very wet mass of air that covers the water. Also note that God hovered over the waters:

Genesis 1:2

2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

The warm wet mass evaporates when the hurricane comes. The hurricane comes after the water leaves. What are you going to do when the hedge of protection leaves?:

Job 1:9-11

9 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has
is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.”
So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

The hurricane is not from the devil. You are God's example. This is why you are going through that specific trial.

Job 13:15

15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.

Can you go through the wilderness like Jesus did?:

Matthew 4:1-11

1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written,
‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, 6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

‘ He shall give His angels charge over you,’

   and,

‘ In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”

7
Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’”
8
Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
10

11
Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

Psalm 35:27

27 Let them shout for joy and be glad,
         Who favor my righteous cause;
         And let them say continually,
         “Let the LORD be magnified,
Who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.”

Isaiah 1:19

19 If you are willing and obedient,
      You shall eat the good of the land;

God knows you can handle it.

Mark 4:35

35
On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.”

It was Jesus' idea to travel during the hurricane. It's rough but Jesus is saying there is an assignment. Don't look to the left or to the right. The minute Peter took his eyes off of Jesus he began to sink (Matt 14:29 -30). You need to apply God's word and grow up. Jesus is saying you are going to the other side.

Mark 4:36

36
Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him.

There were also little ships on the sea with them. If you are going somewhere in God He will also test your friends. You will also see who your real friends are when you are going through a storm. If they can make it with you through the storm they qualify to roll with you.

Mark 4:38

38 But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

When you are in the test of your life you think Jesus is asleep. You feel like you will scream if you hear one more testimony. But He is there.

Mark 4:39

39 Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

A great calm came . God will not let the testing out do your blessing. What God has for you is for you.

Daniel 3:19-25

19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. 20 And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace. 21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. 22 Therefore, because the king’s command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. 23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste
and spoke, saying to his counselors, “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?”
They answered and said to the king, “True, O king.”
25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

These three men were put in a fire. The men who threw them in the fire were killed themselves. There was a 4th man with them. When they came out of  the fire they were not affected. They didn't smell like fire, nor was there hair singed. They were in the fire with Jesus. It's better to be in the fire with Jesus to be elsewhere alone.
